Whether it's wardrobe malfunctions, falling out of taxis or run ins with the police, the world's most famous music artists can often fall afoul of the press. What you often don't hear about, however, are some of the amazing acts of kindness that those same musicians carry out behind the scenes. 1) George Michael


George Michael was well known for his selfless generosity over the course of his career, and one of the most incredible examples of this came during an episode of Deal or No Deal. A contestant revealed that she was hoping to win £15K so she could afford IVF treatment, but fell significantly short during the gameshow. Having watched the show, Michael rang up the producers to arrange giving her the full amount, under one condition: they didn't reveal it was him or make a big song and dance about it. 

2) Tupac

One of the most infamous rappers of all time, many don't know about Tupac's softer side. In 1993, when the mother of a terminally ill child called Joshua reached out via a radio station to try and fulfil her son's dying wish of meeting the rapper. Tupac didn't just respond, he jumped on his private jet and arrived at the family home within a couple of hours. Tupac spent an hour with the boy chatting, but unfortunately within two hours of leaving the residence, Joshua passed away. Deeply moved, Tupac renamed his publishing company from Ghetto Gospel Music to Joshua's Dream in tribute.

3) Adele

Adele is always doing everything she can for her fans, and at a recent concert in Manchester invited a 14 year old girl up on stage to sing Someone Like You with her after she saw her belting it out in the crowd like a champ. 

4) Taylor Swift


Heartbroken to have missed Taylor Swift's concert after she was diagnosed with leukaemia, a young fan called Naomi Oakes sent the star a video message. In response, Taylor Swift sent her a video message back and paid $50,000 towards her medical bills. Above you can see Naomi's reaction when she realises her hero has responded to her message.

5) Ed Sheeran

Renowned for being an all around nice guy, Ed Sheeran took things to a new level when he helped his old childhood friend and fellow musician Amy Wadge out. Struggling financially, Amy visited Ed to ask if he could put one of her songs on the deluxe version of his second album X so she could get a few royalty fees to help pay various bills. Ed went one better and got her to help co-write Thinking Out Loud with him, which hit UK Number 1 and spent 17 weeks in the Top 40, sorting out Mrs Wadge's finances for life in the process.

6) Miley Cyrus 


At the 2014 VMA Awards, to highlight the plight of the homeless in America, Miley Cyrus sent homeless youth Jesse Helt in her stead to accept the award for Best Music Video of the Year. A former model, Jesse Helt gave an emotional speech in which he explained the day to day struggles of being homeless in America and how easy it is to end up on the streets through bad luck. Helt kept the trophy with both his and Miley's names engraved on it, selling it a few years later to help raise money to support his new family.

7) Jon Bon Jovi

There's no price on the menu's at Jon Bon Jovi's Soul Kitchen chain. Instead, diners pay what they feel they can afford with no judgement or questions asked. The kitchen staff are mainly made up of volunteers, and Bon Jovi has been known to jump behind the grill himself on more than a few occasions. 

8) Garth Brooks


Noticing a commotion at one of his concerts midway through a rendition of his hit Unanswered Prayers, Garth Brooks stopped the show to find out what was going on. It turned out a couple had just got engaged, and after a bit of banter with the soon to be newlyweds, Garth told them he'd pay for their honeymoon to Hawaii. Later in the concert, Garth's Wife Trisha Yearwood – who was also performing – came on stage and also congratulated the couple but warned the rest of the crowd that no one else was to get engaged. 

9) Beyonce

Beyonce has a long running philanthropic streak, setting up and making large donations to dozens of charitable organisations. She's also famous for looking after members of the Bey-hive, with a number of make a wishes granted for dying fans. One of her finest hours, however, came during the Houston floods crisis. She is rumoured to have donated up to $7 million to the relief efforts, and spent several days volunteering at shelters handing out diapers, food and hugs to flood victims. 

10) Drake and The Game

After learning about the tragedy of Ana Angel, who lost her boyfriend and five children in a mobile home fire while she was at work, The Game and Drake were moved to donate $20,000 each to cover the costs of the funeral.
