5 tips for the perfect Halloween house party

5 tips for the perfect Halloween party

Whether you plan to dress up or dress down, go out or stay in: you'll be ready for an ace fright night. Halloween lends itself perfectly to house parties, where you can 'go all out' on costumes and not worry about scaring the hell out of strangers.

But, what makes a good Halloween house party? Being the host isn't easy!  It's not just about your costume, you've got to decorate the room, make the treats, sort out the drinks, rearrange the furniture and ensure the music is on point too. Phew, that's a lot to do! We can immediately help on the music front with a Halloween playlist.

For everything else, here's our 5 tips to throw the house party of the year.

1. Pimped out pumpkins

Halloween isn't Halloween without a carved pumpkin. It doesn't have to be a Van Gogh masterpiece, so don't panic. For inspiration, look to your favourite movie characters, emojis, animals or famous scenes. Anything goes! The only rule is that it's a pumpkin - other than that, be free and go wild. Oh, and if you're coming to a Lucky Voice bar over the weekend then bring your carved pumpkin with you to be in with a chance of winning a golden ticket!

2. Fearful fancy dress

Well, we all know this is the best bit. If you love fancy dress, Halloween is probably your favourite day of the year. Oh to be a zombie, it's all we wish for. If you're required to rock a costume but not sure what to do because you're sooooo over being a witch / devil / ghost, feel free to use the legendary Lucky Voice simple equation:

Anything you like or a person you enjoy + make it dead = Halloween costume.

Dead dog? Sure. Dead knight? Great. Dead postman? Awesome. Dead headmistress? Why not. You get the idea.

3. Disgusting drinks

If you feel you're a cocktail making master, then this is the time to shine. Or, if you've got absolutely no idea on how to make a decent beverage, then it's your perfect excuse to make something gross! We recommend using red drinks (red wine as blood is the obvious choice) or green based liquids such as Midori melon shot. Or, throw in all types of beverages into a large punch bowl, add decoration and you've got a winner right there.

4. Frightful Food

Ohhhh this is easy. The cocktail stick will be your new best friend. Firstly, grab a bag of sweets that has worms or spider shapes and use these to decorate the food area. Next, peel some grapes as they feel like gross eye balls. Use cocktail sticks to give things eyes or legs, such as turning olives into creepy crawlies or turning them into mini broomsticks with marzipan. If all else fails - head to the nearest shop. We won't tell.

5. Enticing Entertainment

Don't worry, we got this. Nothing kicks off a house party like a singalong session, especially when the drinks are flowing and the costumes are grotesque. All you need is our Karaoke Kit to turn the party up a few notches on the awesome chart.  Especially as our player has been 'Halloweenified' for the weekend. What's more, if you sign up to Lucky Voice Online Karaoke and use code GHOUL you'll get a free month's online singing!
