David Bowie Predicted The Future Of The Internet In 1999

In 1999, David Bowie predicted the future of the internet during his BBC interview with Jeremy Paxman. 18 years later, we're reading this article online and will probably go on to share, like or comment on this piece of content with our peers. Spooky.

Paxman didn't agree with him at the time and Bowie hit back with, “I don’t think we’ve even seen the tip of the iceberg. I think the potential of what the internet is going to do to society, both good and bad, is unimaginable. I think we’re actually on the cusp of something exhilarating and terrifying. It's an alien life form. Is there Life On Mars? Yes. It's just landed here."

Bowie then further argued his point, "The idea, that the piece of work isn't finished until the audience come to it and add their own interpretation - and what the piece of work is the grey art in the middle. That grey space in the middle is what the 20th century is going to be about."

Though we knew it already, Bowie was not only a legend but a visionary beyond the world of music too. You can watch the video here then afterwards, sing your heart out to our Top 25 David Bowie Karaoke Songs!
