6 Songs From 2006 You've Definitely Forgotten

It's hard to believe 2006 was 12 years ago. But as much as we'd like to continue burying our heads (and age) in the sand, it's a fact we'll have to accept. As we were busy reminiscing everything we were doing all that time ago - we also came away with 6 songs that we had forgotten... until now. We wanted to test YOUR memory to see how many you'll remember. Whilst you're here, treat yourself to a free 14 day trial to our Online Karaoke system. With over 8,000 songs to sing, it'll probably be another 12 years by the time you're finished!

1. Whistle For The Choir - The Fratellis

We all know and LOVE Chelsea Dagger - but who remembers this follow up song to the smash hit? It was originally meant to be called Knickers in a Handbag but the record label urged the band to consider an alternative once they caught wind of the name.

2. Oh Mother - Christina Aguilera

This song was written in tribute of Christina's mother who suffered domestic abuse from her former husband. During an interview with USA Weekend, Christina spoke about the reasons why she records her childhood experiences in her songs: "It gives me a reason to understand why I went through what I did and why I was given this gift to share my voice and words with the world."

3. Coming Home - John Legend

This song was written from the perspective of a soldier in war. Though John Legend doesn't have personal experience about it - he wanted to record what he'd imagine being away from loved ones coupled with the possibility of facing death at any given moment would be like. Bring your tissues - it's a tearjerker...

4. Early Winter - Gwen Stefani

If you've ever been to Prague, Budapest or Milan, then you may recognise the locations in the music video. This was filmed during Gwen's Sweet Escape tour and talks about her ending a previous relationship with a cheating partner. Her inspirations for the song include Billy Idol's "Eyes Without A Face" and  Cyndi Lauper's "Time After Time".

5. A Place In This World - Taylor Swift

This song was penned by Taylor when she was just 13 years old and had freshly moved to Nashville. Little did her teenage self know that she'd leave the legacy of becoming an international artist, household name and celebrated songwriter a decade later!

6. Hate (I Really Don't Like You) - Plane White T's

Ever been caught up in a relationship that seemed perfect at the start until the rose-tinted glasses were taken off and you realised it was more sour than sweet? Then this song is for you. It's a great one to belt out with friends towards the end of your karaoke marathon - especially after you've announced to the room that this is dedicated to your ex-partner. Not that we speak from experience or anything...
